The boys’ basketball team at Greene County High School has resumed practicing in preparation for the 2022 portion of the schedule. Coach Chris Nelson’s team has an overall record of four wins and four losses and is 4-2 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play. The Rams started the season with two losses, then won four games in a row before dropping the last two.
Greene County’s defensive average was strong the first six games of the season with opponents scoring just over 51 points per game, and no team had more than 67. In the last two before the break, both losses, the Rams allowed 78 to a Kuemper Catholic team that entered the contest averaging 56 points, and 84 to Nevada, who had averaged 66 before meeting the Rams. The last two losses were in Jefferson.
A non-conference trip to Webster City on Jan. 4 begins the 2022 part of the schedule vs. the Lynx. Webster City is 4-2 on the season and is averaging just over 58 points per game.
