It’s the final days of the December Used Book Sale at the Jefferson Public Library.
The Friends of the Jefferson Library is hosting the fundraiser, which includes used books, as well as book bags and movies in both the adult and children departments. Library Director Jane Millard encourages those who may have already been to the book sale to come back.
“Usually we sell quite a bit everyday and so our book sale chairperson is here everyday to restock those tables. So stop back often because you will find great bargains everyday and they’re very inexpensive.”
Youth Services Librarian Stephanie Hall says they recently purchased an upgrade of the AWE computer program for youth, using funds from previous book sales. She explains the details of this computer program that is for kids under the age of 12.
“It is a computer program that has all the STEM in it, so science, technology, reading, engineering, art, math and music, and none of it is hooked up to the internet, it’s all in one system. We have headsets that are built for two people to hear at the same time. That helps the adult that is with the child, help them along with where to move the computer mouse or what buttons to push on the keyboard because it’s all right there.”
The book sale goes through the rest of this month during normal hours of the library. Proceeds from the book sale go toward additional purchases for the library.
