With the possibility of freezing rain and icy road conditions, law enforcement officials are reminding motorists of safe driving tips.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams says to always drive slower if there is ice on the roads, including bridges and other high off the ground structures.
“Make sure you are using caution when you’re coming up to a bridge because it’ll freeze faster than the rest of the roadway. Then basically just slow down, especially if you’re coming on the overpass in Jefferson. It normally freezes a lot faster, but the DOT (Department of Transportation) is really good about getting calcium down so it doesn’t freeze.”
Williams reminds motorists to never use cruise control because that can cause the vehicle’s tires to spin and skid.
