Greene County Recycling is reminding residents of certain holiday items that can be recycled during this time of year.
Christmas items that can be recycled include paper gift bags and tags, cards and envelopes, all cardboard, such as food, shipping and product packaging; glass items with food and beverage, paper grocery bags, #1 and #2 plastics, such as food, beverage and soap and cleaners, and those items must be cleaned out. Some of the items that won’t be accepted for recycling include plastic toys, artificial trees, plastic hangers, tissue paper, bows, wrapping paper, shipping plastic, and glittery paper.
Greene County Recycling says there is a 25-percent increase in garbage during the holiday season and they urge everyone to do their part to recycle. Recycling is collected on your normal day of garbage. Anyone with questions can contact Greene County Recycling at 515-386-3252.
