A holiday-themed community celebration is coming up this weekend in Perry.
The Community Christmas Dinner will take place in-person from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. December 25th at the Perry Elks Lodge. Organizer Deb Miller says even though the event is in-person, there are other options for those who may not feel comfortable in large gatherings.
“We are really encouraging anybody that feels vulnerable or is anxious about being in a large group, take out meals and deliveries in fact I’ve been having quite a few, they can call me now and reserve dinners for either takeout come and pick them up or we will deliver in Perry.”
Miller tells Raccoon Valley Radio she encourages people to come out to and enjoy good food.
“It’s kind of our way of pulling together as a town of Perry for one cause. I know we do a lot of different causes, but this one’s kind of a fun event and most of the food is donated through businesses and individual church members. It’s a little bit of a ‘thank you’ for them to thank the people for patronizing their stores, or their churches.”
Miller says those who are attending are asked to wear a mask while going through the line to get their food and then they can take their mask off to eat when seated at their table.
