For those wanting to see snow on the ground for a white Christmas it seems unlikely this year for west central Iowa.

National Weather Service Science and Operations Officer Mike Fowle says the weather will not seem like Christmas. Fowl states that it’ll be more like a brown Christmas with the highs being in the 50s and sunny. He explains the trend of not having “White Christmas.”

At some point that the pendulum will probably swing the other way, and we’ll get a couple of years in a row with some snow on the ground, so, you know, it’s just kind of the luck of the draw right around that, you know, that Christmas holiday, whether or not you’re in a little warm pattern or a cold pattern. But again, things tend to even out (with) Mother Nature. And if I were a betting man, that’s kind of what my perspective would be on that.”

Fowle says that we might be in a pattern where we get snow after the New Year.
