Kuemper Catholic handily won a non-conference high school girl basketball game on Saturday afternoon in Jefferson over Greene County. The final was 68-37 after the Knights led 42-14 at the half and by as many as 41 points late in the third quarter. Kuemper Catholic has won three games in a row, all on the road, and is 3-4 on the season. The Rams have dropped six straight and are 1-6.
The Rams led 8-4 before the Knights put on a 18-o run and the rout was on. Kuemper Catholic has 27 points from Catherine Mayhall, a 5′ 6″ junior who entered the game averaging 27 points per game. Many of her points came on layups following Greene County turnovers. Greene County had a career day from senior post player Brianna Habben. She scored 24 points, 12 in the fourth quarter, and pulled down 11 rebounds to record a statistical “double-double” for the second game in a row.
