EF-2 tornado near Dana area

The National Weather Service has determined last Wednesday’s storm to be another derecho that produced 21 tornadoes.

Greene County alone has been upgraded to have experienced five tornadoes, including one EF-1 and four EF-2 tornadoes. The two additional reports of tornadoes placed one that was categorized as an EF-2 tornado southeast of Dana that started at 5:42pm Wednesday night and traveled northeast for four miles until 5:47pm near the Greene and Boone county line, and included peak wind speeds of 130 miles per hour. The other newly added tornado was categorized as an EF-1 tornado that started south of Cooper at 5:28pm and lasted ten minutes, while traveling northeast and ended in Grand Junction with a peak speed of 100 miles per hour.

The National Weather Service preliminarily reported three EF-2 tornadoes last Thursday, including two that start near Bayard and Bagley and traveled into Greene County with peak speeds of 120 mph, and one that started in Paton that also has wind speeds topping 120 mph.  

All five tornadoes resulted in zero injuries and zero deaths.
