The Panora City Council approved a new police vehicle at their Monday meeting.
Mayor Pat Parker says the city rotates in new patrol vehicles every nine years. Parker explains they have a Chevrolet Tahoe police vehicle that will hit its nine year limit in the spring of 2022 but has run into an issue.
“But what we’re finding is with COVID, the dealerships have a real tight inventory, the 2022 year models are already sold out, all the reservations. So we would be going to the 2023 model not knowing when we would be getting that.”
Parker states they settled on getting a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe. Parker also explains after the city’s police vehicles have been in duty for nine years the mileage and wear on the vehicle becomes expensive.
