A Jefferson man was recently found guilty following a jury trial. 

According to the Greene County Attorney’s Office, a jury found 31-year-old Anthony Peterson guilty of a Class D Felony for willful injury causing bodily injury and a serious misdemeanor for domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury. 

The charges stemmed from an incident on July 1st. Jefferson Police Officers responded to a call of an assault in the 600 block of West State Street at 1:48am. The victim suffered injuries that indicated the assault took place. 

The Attorney’s Office says a sentence hearing has been scheduled to take place on January 31st. Peterson faces up to five years in prison for the felony charge and pay a fine of up to $7,500. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
