A Guthrie County rivalry game was renewed Friday night as the Panorama Panthers girls and boys basketball teams faced off against the visiting AC/GC Chargers.

The Panthers girls came into Friday night’s game ranked fifth in Class 2A basketball according to Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union rankings and Friday night the Panthers girls continued their dominant string of performances so far this season, again holding their opponent to less than 30 points as Friday night’s score ended at 62-17.

The halftime score in Friday’s game against the Chargers was 35-6 in the first half of play. The Panthers girls put together a solid second half and the score of the game was 62-17 when the final buzzer sounded and the Panthers girls remain undefeated at 7-0 so far this season.

The Panthers girls had a good night of scoring as Payton Beckman scored 25, Tyme Boettcher put up 12 points and Angel Poldberg also hit double digits with 10 points. Head Coach Kylee Boettcher says the Panthers girls came out with a lot of intensity for Pink Out night and performed well against solid post play from the Chargers. Boettcher says the Panthers girls also performed well attacking the basket and getting to the charity stripe as the Panthers girls shot 18-23 from the line.

For the Panthers Boys team they came into Friday night looking to win their fourth straight game and going into half time the Panthers led the Chargers 29-24. At the end of regulation the score was tied 54-54 and at the end of overtime the score was 65-64 in favor of the Chargers as the Panthers boys fell to 3-4 on the season.

For the Panorama Panthers girls and boys basketball teams their seasons continue when the Panthers girls have a home game against the Harlan Cyclones on Monday beginning at 7:30 p.m. and the Panthers boys and girls will have a double header against the Woodward-Granger Hawks with girls at 6 p.m. and boys at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Panorama High School.
