Completed Alleyway adjacent to Companion Vet Clinic

An alleyway rehabilitation project was recently completed in the City of Jefferson.

The Jefferson City Council approved a $142,079 contract with TK Concrete of Pella this past April to resurface the alleyways that were adjacent to the White House Apartments on 215 South Wilson Avenue, the Companion Veterinary Clinic at 210 South Wilson Avenue and the Jefferson Post Office. City Administrator Mike Palmer says the project included tearing out the cracks, potholes, dirt and mud and pouring new concrete on top. He acknowledges that the project was supposed to start this past summer, however the project started much later than that.

“They could go all the way until October, which they chose to do. There’s no penalty for that. We believe that the price we got to do that project was a better price because we had a lot more latitude in the scheduling start on there. And just to remind everybody, that project was paid for by Local Option Sales (and Service) Tax dollars.”

The City Council approved the final payment and certificate of completion of the project at their regular meeting this past Tuesday.
