Greene County won its third straight boys’ basketball game while the girls dropped their fourth in a row. The Rams hosted West Marshall (State Center) on Tuesday night with a 65-42 win for Coach Chris Nelson’s team and a 64-26 loss for Coach Tori Ogden’s squad. Both games were head on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

The Rams stayed with number 10 in Class 3A and 7-0 WM early, trailing 19-12. Emma Hoyle scored the first 10 Greene County points to keep the Rams in the game. She and Emma Shipley each had 11 for the game with Shipley hitting five goals from three point range and Hoyle knocking down two. WM led 30-14 at the half and pulled away in the second half. The Trojans are 4-0 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play while the Rams fall to 0-4 in the league and 1-4 overall. Bella Borgos had 16 points Katy Reyerson had 15.

Greene County led the boys’ contest from start to finish, although WM got to within 18-17 in the second quarter. The Rams led 29-23 at intermission, then out scored the Trojans 36-19 in the second half. Richard Daugherty had 19 points, Jesse Miller 18, Bryce Stalder 11, and Jackson Morton eight as the Rams are 3-1 in conference play, 3-2 on the season and winners of three straight. The Trojans had 18 points from Joey Tollefson and they fell to 3-4 on the season and 2-2 in the league.
