Two non-conference high school basketball games took place in Churdan on Monday. It was West Central Valley at Paton-Churdan on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com and the Wildcats won both games.
WCV had 34 points from Madelyn Jaeger to 30 for the entire Paton-Churdan team as the Wildcats won the girls’ game 58-30. Jaeger hit six of the Wildcats’ eight three-point baskets and WCV improved to 3-3 on the season. Isabella Munoz hit a pair of three’s and she finished with 12 points. Carmyn Paup had 14 points and seven rebounds for the Rockets, who fell to 0-5. WCV scored the first 16 points of the game and were never seriously challenged.
The boys’ game saw the Wildcats win 54-51. The visiting team led 30-27 at intermission before building a 44-33 lead early in the fourth quarter. The Rockets came back to within two points at 51-49 late, and had the ball, but could not tie or take the lead. WCV improved to 2-4 while P-C fell to 0-5. The sophomore guard tandem of Landon Osberg and Braylen Taylor combined for 30 points with Osberg at 17 and Taylor with 13. Joe Carey led the Rockets with 17 points, 10 in the fourth quarter. Carey was a perfect 10 for 10 at the free throw line and the P-C team hit 21 of 28 shots from the charity stripe.
