It was a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference split in Jefferson at Greene County High School on Friday night between PCM (Monroe) and Greene County. The Mustangs won the girls’ game 48-22 and the Rams won 71-59 in the boys’ contest. The twin bill was heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

PCM is 2-5 overall and 2-1 in the league in girls’ play while the Rams fell to 1-3 and 0-3. Brianna Habben scored 14 of the Rams’ points and had six of the seven field goals the team made. Coach Tori Ogden’s team went seven of 37 from the field and seven of 17 from the free throw line. PCM was 19 of 58 overall and eight of 15 shooting free throws. The Rams turned the ball over 29 times to 18 for PCM. The Mustangs had unanswered scoring runs in the game of seven, nine, and 11 points.

The boys’ game saw PCM lead 6-1, then Greene County took over and once it took the lead, it never gave it up. The Rams led 14-10 after one quarter and 33-23 at the half. It was 50-44 after three periods and the Rams held a 21-15 fourth quarter advantage. Coach Chris Nelson’s team is now 2-1 in conference play and 2-2 overall while PCM fell to 2-4 and 1-2. Both teams had balanced scoring with Greene County getting 17 points from Jesse Miller, 16 from Richard Daugherty, and 15 by Bryce Stalder. The Rams were six of 19 on three-pointers and 28 of 59 overall. PCM was four of 20 from long range and 21 of 50 overall. From the foul line Greene County was nine of 19 and the Mustangs were 13 of 18. Carson Vandelune had 17 points and Durant Van Dyke 16 for PCM.

The Rams played at home for the first time and they remain at home on Tuesday, Dec. 14 when West Marshall (State Center) visits for a conference girl/boy doubleheader. Both games can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
