Today is the final day of the return of the Winter Festival of Trees event in Jefferson.

Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community is hosting several activities today at the Jefferson Elks Lodge from 9am-7pm. Emily Rohner with the Events Team says all day long people can vote for their top two favorites of the 38 decorated trees that were done by businesses, organizations and individuals. She talks about some of her favorite trees.

“I love all the treats and goodies that December brings and so we do have a lot of cookie and bakery themed trees, which I’m excited to see.”

Rohner points out that there will be lots of kids activities, including writing letters to Santa, decorating gift wrapping paper and gift bags, and a children’s Eye Spy game.

“This was a game that we did back in 2019, where we give a list of ornaments for kids to walk around. Each tree will have a number and if they find that ornament that they’re looking for and they find the number, they’ll just go ahead put that on the sheet. Once they get it all completed they’ll hand it in and we do have some prizes.”

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for pictures from 2-4pm and there will be live piano music provided from 10am-5pm. Finally, there will be free refreshments including hot chocolate and cookies that are provided by Jefferson Hy-Vee. All activities today at the Elks Lodge are free and open to the public.
