A Republican candidate who is running for U.S. House is wanting to bring Iowa’s voice to the table in Washington, D.C.

Iowa Senator Zach Nunn grew up on a century farm in rural Iowa and is a Southeast Polk High School graduate. After high school, Nunn joined the U.S. Air Force, where he flew three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He remains active with the Air Force National Guard. The two term Iowa Legislator tells Raccoon Valley Radio one of the main reasons why he is wanting to make the jump from the Iowa Legislature to the U.S. House.

“The U.S. government is moving on to a new newscycle and forgetting about the fact that Ioiwa has one of the highest inflation rates in the country based on policy decisions made in (Washington) D.C. That Iowa is paying money out to be able to afford a trillion dollar spending packages, they’re going to make Amtrek great in the state of Delaware and have one stop in the state of Iowa. It’s not fair, it’s inappropriate, and most importantly I think Iowans expect more out of their government.”

Nunn is facing three other Republican candidates, including State Representative Ann Hanusa, along with Nicole Hasso of Johnston and Gary Leffler of West Des Moines. Nunn talks about what sets him apart from his fellow Republican candidates.

“We’re the only candidate that has run a race and won, we’re the only candidate that has beaten multiple incumbents, we’re the only candidate who’s actually worked together (with Democrats) to pass legislation, and most importantly, I think we’re a candidate that has a very proven track record. So we want to work hard on this, but most importantly, we’re also a candidate who wants to learn from the new district, what their issues are, what their priorities are, and then work like hell to serve them.”

There will be a June primary election for the Republican nomination, while there’s one lone Democrat candidate, with incumbent Cindy Axne.
