With a demand of school teachers in the local area, Panorama School District is still going to consider the Voluntary Retirement Incentive Program.

Superintendent Shawn Holloway expects the School Board to approve the program in December but explains there is some risk that comes with it.

I think the push and pull that I’m hearing from other superintendents is what becomes tough is, you know, trying to replace those positions. And just again, the number of teacher candidates, you know, there’s just less, you know, young people going into the teaching profession.”

Holloway describes the situation as a teacher shortage and expects it to make an impact in the upcoming years. He also says it gets harder to offer the early retirement program due to the fact of losing good teachers and not having a replacement.
