As families consider whether or not to get their children vaccinated against COVID-19, Dallas County Public Health officials review some common questions they may have.
Dallas County Health Department Public Information Officer Ann Cochran says some common questions include if a child has certain conditions, like bronchitis, or other conditions the parents may wonder about side effects.
“They just want to know are there any side effects that would be harmful or are there any particular things that they should watch for and those are good conversations to have with that child’s physician who is used to seeing that child and knows their medical history.”
Cochran tells Raccoon Valley Radio they recommend taking children to their regular physician so they can ask any questions they might have regarding that individual child. Cochran reminds parents about the protocols following the vaccination.
“You are required to wait for a short period of time after you get the COVID vaccine and we feel that it’s great to have your child right there in a clinic where there is professional healthcare providers during that wait time immediately after the vaccine for very young children.”
