The high school basketball season is underway in Iowa and with that there will be a new addition to the game for next year.
The Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union announced earlier this summer that a 35 second shot clock would be implemented into girls boys high school basketball. Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center High School Girls Basketball Head Coach Bradley Baudler says it will make games a little bit more interesting.
“You know I don’t think a team is going to hold the ball for a minute to two minutes, or you know you see some of them set there and hold it almost the first quarter. So I think it’s going to keep the game moving and keep it interesting.”
Baudler believes this will help players transition to the college basketball game for those that decide to pursue that after high school. He also adds that most high school basketball offenses are fast paced so it won’t drastically change the game.
