With the beginning of the holiday season, there are many organizations that are highlighting the giving spirit.
Adel Public Library Director Trever Jayne says from now until December 16th people can stop by the library and pick up an envelope with a dollar amount on it and donate money that goes to support library programming.
“You can make a donation to support the Friends (of the Adel Public Library Foundation) and then every $5 you give earns you a ticket for some giveaway prizes, and we are going to have some gift baskets that you can win based on your donations.”
Jayne tells Raccoon Valley Radio the money raised pays for things such as supplies, the hiring of performers, among other things. Jayne says the fundraising done by the Friends of the Adel Public Library Foundation is extremely important to putting on programs.
“The Friends provide upwards of 75-percent of our funding for our programming. So, honestly it wouldn’t happen without the Friends, we would be extremely limited. Our summer program serves four to five hundred kids. I don’t know what we would do if we didn’t have the Friends supporting those programs and helping us out.”
