During the most recent city/school elections the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District had two measures on the ballot that passed.

The District had a Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) as well as a revenue purpose statement that voters  passed during the November 2nd election. Superintendent Greg Dufoe says PPEL funds will help the District purchase needed materials.

“We increased the levy amount from $1 to the maximum of $1.34 (per $1,000 of property valuation). The primary purposes of the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy revenue is to finance our technology program, finance our purchasing needed in our transportation department, and then also to help pay for very expensive and necessary instruments for our band program.”

Dufoe tells Raccoon Valley Radio the other matter that passed was the revenue purpose statement. Dufoe says the revenue purpose statement lays out how the District can utilize the statewide sales tax revenue.

“A big chunk of those dollars are used for annual maintenance and facility upkeep especially like our HVAC systems and repair. We used a large amount of sales tax revenue to help pay for Meadow View Elementary. We were saving sales tax revenue on an annual basis to help pay for the rest of the construction costs that weren’t met through the general obligation (GO) bond.”

Both of the measures passed with more than 70-percent approval by voters.
