The Perry girls basketball program will look to put the past behind them starting tonight as the Jayettes get a clean slate with a new coach and a new conference.  Former Perry standout Claire Marburger enters year one as the new head coach and will navigate a young Perry team to Des Moines tonight for the season opener against Hoover.  Marburger inherits a team that returns only three full time players from a season ago.  Top scorer Lydia Olejniczak is back and will be the central focus of the offense once again.  The question becomes will the supporting cast step up and be able to provide consistent offense throughout the year.  Senior Jayna Kenney was the second leading scorer a year ago while handling the point guard position and defensive stopper Katherine West looks to see a more expanded offensive role with the team.  Marburger was able to get Maci Tunick back out for the sport and is expecting an immediate impact from the young player.  Callie Steeva will also be a first year starter and will be responsible for trying to hold down the post position for Perry.  JV action starts at 4:45 tonight with varsity tip off slated for 6:15.
