Greene County High School announced its second class to enter the Greene County Athletic Hall of Fame. Three women and two men comprise the class of five future inductees covering the sports of track & field, six-on-six girls’ basketball, boys’ basketball, and wrestling.

The Class of 2022 includes Pam Slock Sanders, East Greene basketball (Class of 1961); Rosemary Holden-Hoyt, Scranton track & field (Class of ’75); Erik Strawn, Jefferson wrestling (Class of ’82); Kris Curnyn Hagedorn Jefferson-Scranton track & field (Class of ’94); Adam Jones, Jefferson-Scranton basketball (Class of ’98).

Slock Sanders was a high scoring forward in the six-player days who is a member of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Basketball Hall of Fame. Holden-Hoyt was a record setting middle distance and distance runner who had a successful career at Iowa State University. She is a member of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Track & Field Hall of Fame. Strawn was the second State Wrestling Champion for the Rams, and the first Jefferson wrestler to make the State Finals twice. He was second in 1981 and a Champion in ’82. Curnyn Hagedorn was a three time State Champion for the Jeffettes in the discus throw and later was a multiple All-American at Iowa State. Jones went from being a first team All-State basketball player for J-S who held the program scoring record for boys for nearly 20 years, then at Buena Vista University (Storm Lake) was named the Jostens NCAA DIII National Player of the Year as a senior.

On Thursday, Jan. 13 there will be a community reception in the high school commons area from 6-6:45 p.m. with a short program at 6:45 p.m. in the high school auditorium. On Friday, Jan. 14 in between varsity basketball games vs. Roland-Story the induction will take place in the high school gym.
