For the Panorama Panthers cross country teams seniors played an important role throughout the season as the Panthers competed in various meets.

There were a few Panthers runners this season who are in their senior year and have ran their last cross country meets for the Panorama Panthers. Cross Country Coach Greg Thompson says the seniors played an important role throughout the season with their senior leadership.

“Pretty strong leaders, not necessarily by their voice and of directing people along or talking to other kids about ‘This is the way we run things here,’ it was more just by their actions and what they did. Before practice they would lead the stretches, they would be usually the first ones to get out, start a workout, get back finish the workout, be serious about stretching after practice, just kind of by their actions.”

Thompson tells Raccoon Valley Radio the seniors on the teams had a lot of responsibility with thing such as deciding whether or not to walk the course before meets. Thompson explains some of the responsibilities that the seniors on the teams had this year.

“So, I put a lot of leadership on them and made it feel like it was more their responsibility to guide the team and direct the team in what we were doing.”

While the season ended for the Panorama Panthers cross country teams without runners at the state meet in Fort Dodge this year the Panthers will look to get back out on the courses next year and post good times.
