Greene County was down two boys’ basketball players due to injury even before official practice began. Senior Max Riley, a starting guard last season, and junior Patrick Daugherty are both on the injured list. Riley has a broken fibula and the hope is he’ll be able to practice late this year. Daugherty has a torn labrum, which requires surgery, so his season is done.

Head Coach Chris Nelson rarely had his team intact last season, mainly due to injuries and COVID-19, so he’s hoping the injury bug has run its course. The coach does have potential offensive firepower in senior guard Bryce Stalder, junior guard Richard Daugherty, and junior wing Jesse Miller. Stalder was first team all-conference in the Heart of Iowa as a junior and Daugherty was second team as a sophomore. Miller missed a lot of time last season, but he’s grown to 6′ 6″ and at least 220 lbs.

The Rams open the season on Monday, Nov. 29 in Ogden as part of a girl/boy doubleheader on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
