While the season didn’t end the way they would have hoped for the Panorama Panthers volleyball team, this season looked more normal than the one from last year.
The Panthers volleyball team finished this season with an overall record of 7-21 while losing in the Class 2A Region 3 Quarterfinal round to the Southwest Valley Timberwolves by a score of 3-0, but this season was a return to more normal as the coronavirus pandemic severely affected last year’s season.
Panorama Panthers Volleyball Coach Joanne Sandage says last year when the coronavirus pandemic was especially bad the Panthers were unable to take part in tournaments which she says is a place for teams to get a lot of experience in a lot of games.
“We didn’t get to play tournaments last year, which you always get a lot of games and a lot of experience in tournaments. Playing tournaments is just a whole different feel you gotta win in best two out of three rather than best three out of five so there is a little bit more urgency in playing tournaments.”
Sandage tells Raccoon Valley Radio a lot of the girls including the younger ones were able to get more experience as the Panthers were once again able to take part in tournaments this season as athletics began to return to a little more normalcy.
While the season is officially over for the Panorama Panthers volleyball team they will look to return next season for what will hopefully be an even more normal season than the one from this year.
