Elementary students in Greene County recently benefited from a field trip from a local organization.

Beta Tau Delta donated funds for 120 students from Greene County and Paton-Churdan School Districts to go to the Blank Park Zoo. The sorority paid for transportation, as well as educational sessions, feeding some of the animals, taking a train tour of the zoo, lunch and souvenirs. Sorority member and organizer Carole Custer says this venture started over a decade ago when school finances made it difficult for children to go to the zoo, which they are proud to continue their fundraising efforts to make this a reality for the children in the county.

The annual fall fundraiser is currently underway for Beta Tau Delta. Donations can be made to Alana Curnyn, the campaign chair, at 411 East Wilcox Way in Jefferson.
