When most people think about libraries they view it as a place to check out books, but one local library wants you to know they have much more.

Perry Public Library Children’s Librarian Suzanne Kestel says there are more than just books for people at the library including many fun, take-home activities.

“We have probably about 30 literacy bags which are really cool. I mean we go from a music one that has musical instruments in it, a little cooking one, we have some more Science,Technology,Engineering and Math (STEM) related ones and what you do is you just come in and check them out just like you would a book.”

Kestel tells Raccoon Valley Radio other items include puzzles, cake pans for special events, games and audiobooks, among many other things.

“‘We are more than just books at our library,’ as (Library Director) Mary (Murphy) likes to say and so those are some of the extra things that you might not think about that we have that you can check out.”
