With the elections being finalized at the last Guthrie County Supervisors meeting, one city had an interesting contested race

Only one candidate, Steve Stanton, was on the ballot to be the next mayor of Yale but Tom Godwin ran a write-in campaign. Godwin says that he was asked to run and he adds jokingly that he would only run as a write-in candidate. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio his reaction to winning.

“I’m an old marine I don’t have much reaction on anything, kind of pleased.”

After the ballots were counted the contested race ended up being a tie at 34 of votes apiece. To settle the tie, the Guthrie County Supervisors put the two candidate’s names in a hat and drew the winner, which was Godwin.
