An annual tradition continued for Greene County High School, but in a reduced capacity.
The Interact Club took to the neighborhoods in Jefferson and raked 15 lawns of leaves on Monday. Co-organizer of the Leaf Raking Community Service Project Teresa Green says they usually have all high school students, as well as several community volunteers rake leaves in the school district’s communities, but they wanted to pair down this year’s event because they wanted to honor how this project started with just the Interact students.
Green believes the leaf raking project was just as effective as years past with the group of students that participated. She adds the Interact students were proud of their work. Additionally, Hamilton Redi-Mix provided a dump trailer for the students, as well as several trucks used by some of the Jefferson Rotarians. Kelley Gray is the other organizer of the event.
