Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation is once again accepting competitive grant applications for its next granting cycle.

GGCGC is the non-profit gaming license holder for Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson. They receive five-percent of the casino’s adjusted gross revenue, which is on a record-setting pace in it’s eight-year existence. Of that five-percent, 0.9-percent goes to the six surrounding counties for other projects and programs. GGCGC President Norm Fandel says oftentimes an organization or a group has a project in mind and funding is typically the downfall. He points out this is no longer the case.

“What we’ve seen in the last eight years is that funding source and that revenue stream has no longer been a road block. So we’ve been really excited. It’s been fun and really brought out a lot of different people that has gotten excited about it, the local communities, the surrounding communities.”

Despite the fact that the latest U.S. Census Bureau data showed that Greene County overall lost population from 2010 to 2020, Fandel believes the future is looking brighter, along with GGCGC continuing to give grant funds to worthy projects.

“I think today, a small community like Jefferson or Greene County, to be able to maintain our census is an accomplishment in itself. And to be able to grow those numbers would be exciting. I think we will probably see that here in the next census that we will grow because of what we have and the opportunities in front of us.”

The competitive grant applications are for projects that are over $35,000 and applications are due February 10, 2022. Click the link below for more information on how to apply.
