A Fort Dodge man was recently sentenced for an incident in Grand Junction.

According to court documents, 33-year-old Jonathan Kennedy pled guilty to two Class D Felonies for his third or subsequent offense for possession of methamphetamine and third or subsequent offense for possession of marijuana – habitual offender. He had two 15 year prison sentences suspended and was placed on probation for three years.

The charges stemmed from an incident on December 31, 2020. A Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy found Kennedy, who had an arrest warrant from the Jefferson Police Department, at a Casey’s General Store in Grand Junction. As the deputy was arresting Kennedy, methamphetamine and marijuana were found on Kennedy, along with stolen property from Casey’s. 

Kennedy was also ordered to pay over $1,000 in court costs and probation fees. As per the plea agreement, the misdemeanor charge for theft was dismissed.
