ADM Tigers girls basketball is finishing up their first week of the preseason practice today, as they have been stressing multiple things throughout the week. One of the things that the Tigers always take seriously in their defensive execution, and that will have to be a staple if they are looking to get back to a winning record this year.
In the 2020-21 season, the Tigers were able to only give up 47.5 points per game, which was an improvement from 53.6 points per game on the year in 2019-20, and 48.6 points per game in 2018-19. They also were able to record 10.1 steals per game, which is the third consecutive year that the Tigers have averaged double figure steals per game.
The Tigers have good perimeter defenders along with having good presence in the interior as well. Making sure that they don’t allow many points in the paint while quickly closing out on shooters will be key to their success as well.
Offense of course will be important as well, but the Tigers bread and butter is defense, and they will have to get some great performances this year to be competitive in the Raccoon River Conference.
