The Guthrie County Public Health Department is seeing positive results from early treatments in the fight against COVID-19.
Guthrie County Public Health Director Jotham Arber says using approved treatment options such as monoclonal antibodies which includes regeneron seems to be very effective. Arber explains what he has seen from patients when they take the medications.
“Last year when (early treatments) were introduced we saw that several of our nursing home patients that were ill with COVID-19 I should say did not end up succumbing to COVID-19 because they had these monoclonal that kept them from ending up dying.”
Arber says approved early treatments drugs are good options to help fight the effects of COVID-19 and are available to Guthrie County residents but they need to talk with their medical providers. He says that drugs like ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine are not approved options for COVID-19. Arber states there is another antiviral medication that is on track to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration called Molnaprivri and will be another tool to fight COVID-19.
