Greene County dominate its five opponents during the Class 2A District 8 football season and the All-District selections reflect that. Caden Duncan was named head coach of the year by a vote of district coaches and 21 players from Greene County were named either to the first or second teams, or to the honorable mention list. The Rams were 5-0 in district games with all five decided by 41 or more points. Overall, Greene County was 8-2 and advanced to the round of 16 in the playoffs, and was ranked as high as third. We’ll look at the offense today, with the defense tomorrow.
Senior Bryce Stalder was named the Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight season. The quarterback was a dual threat with his legs and right arm. Joining Stalder on the first team offense from Greene County were wide receiver Jackson Morton, and offensive linemen Mason Stream and Logan Higgins. All are seniors. Higgins had his season cut short by a knee injury. Stream played offensive center, while the versatile Morton also played running back in addition to receiver.
Rams on the second offensive unit are sophomore right guard Noah Cornell, junior tight end Jesse Miller, and junior utility player Patrick Daugherty, who was mainly a fullback on offense. Sophomore Nathan Behne was on the second team as a kicker.
Honorable mention players who primarily were on offense include freshman left tackle Kamden Kinne, senior right tackle Kole Teeples, and utility player Joe Carey, a senior, who was a long snapper, holder, receiver, and defensive back.
Tomorrow, we’ll look at the Rams selected on the defensive side of the ball.
