This weekend is when Daylight Saving Time ends.

This is also the time of year when clocks are set back one hour, which is at 2am this Sunday. Jefferson Fire Chief Jack Williams reminds everyone that this weekend is also a good time to remember to do another routine check of a life-saving device.

“Normally the same day the time changes everybody should go change the batteries in all of their smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors. It’s just an easy time to remember to change the batteries if you get into the routine of, ‘change the clocks back, change the batteries in your smoke detectors.’”

Williams recommends buying new batteries to ensure there is full life to a battery for your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and then remember to change the batteries again when Daylight Saving Time starts next spring.
