The Guthrie County Health Services Department has seen a high demand for flu shots approaching flu season in the community.
Health Services Director Jotham Arber says flu shots are very good at keeping people from being severely ill.
“But generally speaking you’ve got 40 percent to 60 percent effectiveness with the flu shot as far as keeping you symptomatic, they’re very good at keeping people from being hospitalized.”
Arber recommends anyone wanting a flu shot to call the Public Health Department, doctor offices and other area pharmacies.
