Governor Kim Reynolds stopped by the Lakeside Village in Panora Tuesday as part of her 99 county tour.
Reynolds visited with the staff and toured the classroom that was built with the Future Ready Iowa grant funds to help employees and residents earn certifications. Reynolds said she was impressed by what Lakeside Village has done with the grant program.
“We continue to struggle with workforce and to be here first hand how what their doing here cross training reaching out to students providing them opportunity it was just very impressive and it’s not typical to see the steps they have taken to take advantages of some of the grant programs to reach out to high school and kids.”
Lakeside Village Director Amanda Creen said it meant a lot for the Governor to visit their facility.
“She took the time to hear from the staff with what they have been doing and really acknowledge it’s been tough with the Coronavirus and the things we are doing are important in rebuilding our community.”
Reynolds added that Lakeside had a lot of recommendations to enhance the program and she will address that with her staff.
