The Panorama Panthers football team came into this season looking to recreate their successes from last year where they made it to the second round of the playoffs.
The Panthers finished their 2020-2021 season with an overall record of 6-3 and made it to the second round of the 1A playoffs where they fell to the Pella Christian Eagles by a score of 21-19. After the class of 2021 graduated the Panthers came out this year looking to recreate the success from last year.
This year the Panthers finished with an overall record of 1-7 on the season and missing the Class 1A playoffs for the first time since the 2018-2019 season. The Panthers won their first game of the season against the Colfax-Mingo Tigerhawks by a score of 26-21. Also, the Panthers finished with a 0-5 conference record as well.
The Panthers struggled generating points this year as they had three games where they failed to generate points and two games where they failed to score more than ten points. There were plenty of bright spots for the Panthers during the season in sophomore running back Ryan Cogil who had a good season rushing the ball, with 96 carries for 542 yards at 5.6 yards per carry, four touchdowns and his longest rush being 70 yards for a touchdown which led all Class 1A District 7 football. Cogil also had six receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown as well.
Also, sophomore Klayton Bremer also produced on the defensive side with 47 tackles on the season with 36 of them being solo as well as 1.5 tackles for loss. Defensively the Panthers also notched eight interceptions on the season with senior Austin Block getting two and junior Braedon Draper also getting two.
While the Panorama Panthers football team did miss the playoffs this year they will look to regroup in the offseason and come back to the field next year.
