Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers football is continuing to gear up for postseason football on Friday night against the Nevada Cubs, and will be turning their head towards a defense that will be needing to help the Tigers be competitive. ADMs defense has been able to take some major steps forward in the 2021 year, getting excellent play from their entire unit, and using their depth to their advantage throughout the year.
In seven victories this year, the Tigers have only given up 10.3 points per game which includes three shutouts as well, but in their two losses the Tigers have given up an average of 59 points per game.
Nevada features a run first offense with 312 attempts on the season compared to 101 passing attempts. As a team they run for 7.0 yards per carry, and have accounted for 34 team rushing touchdowns, with quarterback James Edwards having 19 and running back Cason Stevenson having 13 on the year. Stevenson is also running for 9.9 yards per carry, one of the best totals in 3A.
The Tigers defense will have to stop the run first while staying disciplined enough against the play action of Nevada, where they have a couple of big play receivers on the outside. Finding away to slow down this running attack is a must for a Tiger victory.
You can listen to Tiger football on True Country K1079, the KKRF app, and racccoonvalleyradio.com. Kick time from Nevada will be at 7 o’clock with Adel Healthmart pregame coverage to begin around 6:35.
