With more development happening throughout Perry, the potential for another piece that would bring more business may soon be happening.

City Administrator Sven Peterson says Kwik Star has filed plans for a potential store location at the corner of First and Center streets, just north of Orsheclins. Peterson explains some of those plans.

“They are looking at putting in a convenience store there with a car wash, gas pumps, a couple diesel pumps then some parking farther back.”

Peterson tells Raccoon Valley Radio the planning and zoning board did approve it but there were some revisions to the site plan. Peterson says Kwik Star will be working on the revisions before it comes before the city council for approval. Peterson gives a potential timeline.

“Not a hundred percent sure on their construction schedule. The representative from Kwik Star said possibly 2022 but for sure at least by 2023 construction would start. I know once they do start construction they are really good about getting those put up and finished in a timely manner. We are all very excited, it’s a great addition to the community.”

The next Perry City Council meeting which could feature potential action on the Kwik Star location is November 1st.
