As the season has concluded for the Panorama Panthers cross country teams, some senior runners have finished their last meet for the Panthers.
While the teams were small this year for Panorama there were still seniors on both the boys and girls teams for this year. For the girls side Leah Fett and Payton Beckman both brought senior experience for the girls cross country team.
Also, for the boys cross country team there were seniors in Avery Norman, Austin Wetzel and Landon Goodenberger who also ran their last meet for Panorama Panthers cross country. Head Coach Greg Thompson says the senior leadership will be tough to replace next year as they served as a catalyst for maintaining a positive attitude throughout a tough season.
“They just started picking up the intensity in practice, starting going a little bit extra in practice. If we gave them options between a four mile run or a five mile run they always opted for the longer run. Just their work ethic is something that is going to be hard to replace.”
Thompson tells Raccoon Valley Radio a little bit about some of the senior runners who competed in their last meet at the end of this season
“Payton Beckman has been at the state meet three times, twice as an individual qualifier, all three times as part of a time. Avery Norman just steadily improved, he missed his lifetime best the other day just by twenty seconds and Leah Fett ran her season best time.”
While the Panorama Panthers boys and girls cross country teams will be looking to replace some of the qualities of senior leaders next season they will look to continue to improve as Thompson says there will be runners coming up from the younger classes at Panorama to fill in on the cross country teams.
