Guthrie County has close to 800 military veterans and one organization is helping veterans get the benefits they need. 

Guthrie County Veterans Affairs Administrator Amy Davis says she  helps get veterans benefits they are eligible for and that they have earned from prior service. She says there is a lot of money out there for veterans benefits. 

“It’s probably not well known that even though we are a small county, federal payments from the VA to Guthrie County veterans total about $300,000 per month. So that totals about $3.6 million dollars a year.”

She says commonly works with federal benefits which includes disability compensation, veterans pension, wartime veterans and spouses and family members apply for burial benefits when a eligible veteran passes away. Davis states she helps those individuals who are men and women, from young adulthood all the way up to veterans who served during World War II
