Even though the Panorama Panthers volleyball team is done for the season after being knocked out in the Class 2A Region 3 quarterfinal, there were still good moments during the season.
Head coach Joanne Sandage says she hopes here players remember some of the mental toughness that was required for matches throughout the season, including the Class 2A Region 3 first round game which saw the Panthers down 14-11 in the fifth and final set. The Panthers went on to win the set to head to the quarterfinal round after a 3-2 win over the IKM-Manning Wolves.
“The IKM game went to five and we were down 11-14 and as I told the girls that is generally a death sentence in volleyball but we just kept working one point at a time. Tyme Boettcher had a lot of pressure on her at the end of the game and she got through it.”
Sandage says that mental toughness is a big aspect of volleyball and she hopes that is something her players take with them moving into next season. The Panthers finished this season with an overall record of 7-21 on the season.
Sandage says the match where the Panthers came back from 14-11 against the IKM-Manning Wolves as well as a match against the West Central Valley Wildcats that also went five sets, with the Panthers coming out victorious, will be games the Panthers players will remember as well.
