There are six candidates running for three available seats on the Greene County School Board and today we introduce another candidate with Sean Sebourn.
Sebourn is a 2003 Jefferson-Scranton High School graduate. He served as a missionary with Abundant Life Church in Italy for four years and then returned to Jefferson where he and his wife Miranda started Sebourn Video Services in 2008. They have two school-aged children and a daughter that is due in January.
Sebourn wants to attract and retain quality staff in the district, while also increasing parental involvement. He also wants to develop work habitats and positive characteristics for students to have when they enter the work environment. He says he is running for Greene County School Board to be a voice for the staff, students and parents.
“I’ve talked to a few teachers and they’ve asked me to be a board member who listens, to be involved and understand what’s going on in each school building or even on the buses. I’ve also had a chance to talk to our students in the schools. They’re concerns range from having more PE to social issues like respecting others (and) many were real with me concerning the current types of bullying that’s going on. Finally, I’m running to be a voice for the parents. They ultimately decide the direction in which our schools go and how their students are educated.”
Sebourn is running against Michelle Fields, Bonnie Silbaugh, Nick Lehman, Cindi Daubendiek and incumbent Catherine Wilson.
