ADM Tigers football will be taking on the Cubs on Friday night in first round action of 3A state football, a matchup that is projected to be a chess match between the two schools. Nevada is 8-1 on the season with only a loss to the RPI number 2 team Humboldt, and boosts a solid team that has an elite defense.

Cub football will be looking to put together another strong showing on the defensive side of the football, where they haven’t given up 20 or more points not once this season, including Humboldt, who has scored at least 30 points in every other game this year. ADMs offense has been able to accomplish a similar feat, but know they will be taking on one of the toughest defenses in the state this week.

Offensively, Nevada is similar to ADMs team with a dangerous dual threat quarterback and a running attack that has produced on average over 250 yards per game. Senior quarterback James Edwards has accounted for 30 touchdowns on the year, 19 on the ground and 11 through the air.

Both of these teams meet last year in the season opener, with Nevada winning 41-21. The Tigers were without seventeen players due to Covid-19 contact in that game, and were unable to get out of a 20-0 halftime deficit. Many of the same players in that game are in Friday’s game, but both teams have been drastic improvement since that game last year.

Tiger football can be heard on Friday night on True Country K1079, the KKRF app, and raccoonvalleyradio.com. Kickoff will be happening at 7 o’clock.
