Michelle Fields
We continue our coverage of the candidates running for Greene County School Board as today we introduce Michelle Fields.
Fields is a Springville, Iowa native and has a bachelor’s degree in fisheries and wildlife biology from Iowa State University. She moved to Greene County when she married her late husband Pat and they have two school-aged children. She works as the Information Technology and GIS Manager at the Greene County Courthouse. Fields has coached little league and youth basketball when her kids were younger, has been involved with Greene County Cattlemen’s Association for 17 years, served on the Greene County Early Learning Center Board and the Raccoon River Valley Trail Association Board. She currently serves as a Greene County 4-H leader and is on the Greene County School Improvement Advisory Committee.
Fields wants to ensure the school district continues to adapt and change its curriculum with the needs of local businesses and she also wants to make sure the current facilities are maintained to get as much use out of them as possible. She talks about why she is running for Greene County School Board.
“I don’t know if I have any skills that would make me a better candidate than anyone else. But I do care that my kids and all kids get the support they need to learn. I care that all of their teachers have the support they need to be able to teach. I care that parents have someone they can reach out to when they have concerns. It’s a lot of work to put on an election. So please get out and vote.”
Fields is running against Nick Lehman, Bonnie Silbaugh, Sean Sebourn, Cindi Daubendiek and incumbent Catherine Wilson for three available seats on the school board.
