Dallas Center – Grimes football was able to end the season on a high note on Friday night for senior night against the Glenwood Rams, as they were able to have an explosive 2nd quarter that was buoyed by 22 points as they picked up a 28-14 win. DCG ends the season at 3-6 and Glenwood at 4-5, as the Mustangs were able to salute their seniors throughout the evening as well.
Quarterback Huston Halverson was able to put together a great final game, as he went 22/32 for 243 yards two touchdowns and one interception as well. Sophomore Zach Smid was able to have a breakout game at wide receiver with 11 catches for 127 yards and 2 touchdowns as well. On defense, the Mustangs were able to create 7 turnovers on the night, with four interceptions and three fumble recoveries. Alex Abens and Dalton Bergthold were both able to record a pair of interceptions. Colin Kakacek was able to grab four tackles and a pair of sacks as well, putting up a big night.
DCG was able to grab a final win for their 21 seniors, as they put up a good end of their season winning three of their final four games. DCG will be looking to rebound in 2022 after a rare down year, but have a good amount of talent in the program as they look to have a good offseason.
