While focus may be on the candidates in the upcoming city/school elections in November, there will be another important vote on the ballot.
Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Superintendent Greg Dufoe says the school’s physical plant and equipment levy will be on the ballot on November 2nd. Dufoe says some of the ways the funding is used includes technology among others.
“We are going back to the voters to ask for a ten year extension. Our last physical plant and equipment levy was passed in 2012 so of course it is coming due. That levy is designed to provide funds really in three main areas.”
Dufoe tells Raccoon Valley Radio another way it is used is for vehicle purchases or band instruments. Dufoe says the physical plant and equipment levy plays an important role in keeping the District updated.
“For us and technology it is like lifeblood. It is so key and core to what we offer our students that we simply just can’t imagine not being able to finance our plan as we have built it and look into the future to do so.”
Dufoe explains when the vote takes place it is a 50-percent plus one majority vote and is a no tax rate ask as the District will reduce another levy to offset the $1.34 of the physical plant and equipment levy.
